Football and horology; Tag Heuer X Manchester United
Yes, yes. As always, we are on the edge of our seat when a watch brand announces a collaboration with a total different company. A car brand, sailing team or – as in this case – a football team. Why? Well, because it is always exciting to see which superlatives are used to describe the historical connections between the two of them. CEO’s bring the news as if they found their long lost biological brother, finally found the end of a rainbow or discovered a new planet Earth.

Anyhow, these kind of collaborations will be with us for an eternity, so we have to accept them. One way or another. I find it kind of hard to believe that all of the relations between those various companies are so strong or historical. Besides that, most of the times the only things that change because of such a collaboration is the price and colour of a watch. Making it less interesting to look forward to such moments.

The ‘Mancunians’ have to wear Tag Heuer now
So the latest collaboration was introduced two days ago. Old Trafford – Manchester’s football temple – was the playground for Jean-Claude Biver and Richard Arnold. The CEO of Tag Heuer and the Manchester United Group Managing Director introduced the fans to two new chronograph watches. The Tag Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 chrono in-house Calibre Manchester United and the Tag Heuer Formula 1 Manchester United Chrono Quartz.

Both models are well-known and can be named two of the most popular Tag Heuer models. Besides the fact that it’s necessary to add a bigger brochure for fully displaying the model name, these watches are recognisable due to the Manchester United logo at the dial.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 Chrono in-house Caliber Manchester United contains the in-house Heuer-01 chronograph, that we can admire thanks to the black skeleton dial. A prestigious watch that puts in the spotlight the bright red of Manchester United: club logo positioned at 9 o’clock, TAG Heuer’s shield on the bezel at 12 o’clock, hands of hours, minutes and central second of the chronograph, red alligator strap… a distinguished and high prestige watch.

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Manchester United Chrono Quartz similarly respects the Manchester United universe, but this time at a much more accessible price. It is indeed one of the best value timepieces on the market with high quality finishes and functions honouring the Manchester United logo on the 1/10th second counter at six o’clock. And more of this event (with cheese of course)..
